Vincent Poon :: Episode VI: The Return of the Weary Travellers

Day 3, after watching the sunrise in Ksar Ghilane, we drove out of the desert to the mountains. The scorching heat continued and we were also given a flat tyre before we reached Chenini the mountain village. Granaries came next though I must admit they were worth visiting. Last stop was in Matmata where we had lunch (at 1500) and also visited the underground Berber cave house. (a must for Star Wars fans)

The last part of the journey was a 6 hours drive all the way north to Sousse. The other jeep had the aircon broken so they were literally soaked. Oh and we missed the famous El-Jem because we got back home at around 2300!

Right opposite to Ksar Haddada was a local school. The students were boarding the bus for home
Nice car~ with the unusually high suspension it seems like a proper 4WD
After leaving Ksar Hadadda, we passed through the Dahar mountains to Matmata
As of now I am still not too sure what the black patch was, shade of the clouds (not many clouds in the sky) or something else?

After 2 hours drive, we finally arrived Matmata. The first place we visited was Hotel Sidi Driss, where the Episode IV of Star Wars was filmed
Nailing a Darth Vader towel to the wall might remind you the reason why you were here, but for us, lunch was a more desperate reason!
We were finally seated for lunch in one of the rooms of this underground troglodyte home at around 3PM
OK I skipped the brik photos as I figure out that you guys should have already seen enough, just like in the same way that I have had enough of that oily stuff... Still, I left the photo of the chicken couscous (I know we have seen that), just to remind me we actually had lunch here!
