My memory of the viva is something of a blur!

My external examiner is a world leader and expert in exactly my field, whereas my internal is not.

I actually had more difficult questions from my internal examiner because he would ask quite basic questions that I really haven't thought of,

whereas the external's questions are what I expected.

In one case, the external examiner had to paraphrase my broken answer for me,

so that my internal examiner could understand my response, while I sat nodding dumbly^^"

I was not abel to defend my quantitative data well,

so I was fully expecting what we commonly call "major corrections",

and praying not be failed outright.

But when I was waiting the result at my supervisor's office, she said

"I would be very surprised if you fail, given your good performance in the viva and the well written thesis"

which really eased my anxiety and stress.

It's really good to have your supervisor with you on your date of viva.

11 July 2017. This is definitely one the of most significant dates of my life.

It is the day I passed my doctoral degree with minor corrections!
